A House for Makers and Creators

Yesterday I visited Marchmont House. It was almost like a long-time home coming. From 1995 to 2002 I had the great pleasure to run the creative programme at Duff House in Banff. Both Marchmont and Duff are built by the great Scottish Architect William Adams.

The Marchmont Makers Foundation supports creativity in the arts in the Scottish Borders and beyond. Their particular interest lies in supporting artists to become financially sustainable and projects that inspire art in the community, schools and the next generation. To this effect they have purpose-built converted studio spaces, setting up community cafe events in nearby Greenlaw and are currently renovating the ancient Polwart church to become a music venue.

Thanks to Lucy Brown to take the time to show me round, and Hugo Burge for making it all happen.
