Bordered Miles is a day-long, live-streamed group walk from the centre of Glasgow to Dungavel House Immigration Removal Centre, approximately 26 miles south of the city. An extension of Iman Tajik’s ongoing interest in making work for the public realm, the walk invites participants, both physically and virtually, to pay close attention to the movement of bodies as a natural right of any species.

Bordered Miles emphasises the ways that bodily movement crosses or is constrained by multiple borders, both visible and invisible. Tajik’s work frequently focuses on these socio-political divisions and this project scrutinises the ways in which these borders affect some far more than others. The walk itself involves a small group of participants, as well as being live-streamed online. It concludes as the physical participants arrive at the Immigration Removal Centre to raise and fly a flag made by Tajik out of an emergency safety blanket as a symbol of reclaiming that political space.
