Meaning/Making/ Material

With Roxane Permar at GAADA

A five day whirlwind across the many creative set ups on Shetland. Setting on a 12 hour overnight ferry from Aberdeen, it was a first for me, and what a great opportunity to be guided by so many inspiring people:

Graeme Howell who runs the big Mareel ship.

Jane Matthews from Shetland Arts Trust giving me a synopsis about visual arts in and around Shetland

Ruth Oliver for travelling with me to see the Bonhoga Gallery

Roxane Permar and colleagues at UHI

Carol Christiansen from Shetland Museum

Suzanne Morlock, Artist in Residence at the Weaving Shed

Also a visit to GAADA and to The Booth, a Wasps run residency space at the waterfront of Scalloway.

Meaning/Making/Materials sums up the creative activities deeply rooted in the matters that make this place.

Dinner with the UHI Fine Art team

A special was highlight for me was to meet Jeanette Budge who spent an evening teaching me how to knit with the knitting belt. A long wish come true!
