Intertale/Eutopia Stop 7: Wörgl/Tirol

As part of the Fön Creative Festival against Gravity - I was invited to give a talk and workshop on Transformational Fieldwork: How can a sustainable cultural work be developed for rural contexts?

Some 20 folks from art organisations from all over the Tyrol turned up here in Wörgl at the Gallerie am Polylog for a talk about the town is the venue work in Huntly. This was followed by a workshop full of questions and discussions based on the 16 Principles that came out of my PhD thesis.

Wörgl itself has some 14000 inhabitants and is more a little city than a town or village due to its central transport link and railway junction. It was heavily bombed by the allies at the end of WW2. However, there are still three dairy farms in the middle of the city, which makes an interesting juxtaposition to the otherwise still evidenced prevalent post-war architecture.

Curator Günther Moschig has been working out of the gallery in Wörgl for many years and collaborated with me since 2000. Thanks also to Helene Schnitzer from the Tiroler Kultur Initiativen for organising the event, good food and animated conversations on all things rural art development.
