Intertale/Eutopia Stop 12: Algund, Süd-Tirol/Alto Adige
My visit to Süd-Tirol/Alto Adige kindly organised by Lisa Mazza who runs BAU, with her colleague Simone Mair. BAU, an institute for contemporary art and ecology has an annual residency programme focused on one artist/project/product, such as honey, the tomato or the ancient Binkel wheat to address the specific situation in rural Süd Tirol/Alto Adige in collaboration with local farmers, agri-coops and other partners. While working all over the province, in the village of Algund (5000 inhabitants) they have their Caldera, an agronomist’s glass house which serves as a meeting and education point for artists, farmers, locals, school children and many other partners.
Thanks Lisa and Simone for invigorating conversations, good food and comfy accommodation.
Being in Bozen/Bolazano, it was also so great to meet Elisabetta Rattalino again, my old friend who once worked with Deveron Projects. And then my god father Onkel Helmuth. He is a comet of 94 years old and loves sharing a few glasses of wine with me.
